Adolf Dassler and Rudolf Dassler were brothers and following the end of the first world war Adolf started to design sports shoes in his mothers kitchen. In 1924 Rudolf joined the business which became a successful going concern making over 200,000 before the onset of the second world war.

The brothers did not get along however and in 1948 they both split up and went their separate ways. However it is worth noting that Rudolf soon after formed his own fashion company named 'Puma' and Adolf creating his own entity named 'Adidas'. Quite some foresight these gentlemen had that their brands would become one of the most successful in history. With ranges in all genres of sports equipment, fashion, and watches it is not surprising that such a striking brand has been with us for so many years.
